Art Deco Sowerby centrepiece frosted pink glass stump lady figurine with frog and matching bowl
Art Deco centrepiece frosted pink glass stump lady figurine with frog and matching bowl.
Made by British company Sowerby in the 1930's, pattern number 2565.
Very Good condition, considering its age, one or two very few minor nibbles to the top rim of the bowl and to the holes on the flower frog, not at all do they take away from the beauty of this girl and her bowl.
Measures approx 7 inches tall by 10 inches in diameter at widest point
John Sowerby founded the Gateshead Stamped Glass Works in 1846. In 1852 it was replaced by a new factory called Sowerby's Ellison Glass Works. Sowerby introduced its Vitro-Porcelain range (Milk glass) in 1877. In the 1920's, Sowerby began producing a range of iridescent glassware called Carnival glass. During the 1930's, Sowerby produced several Art Deco glass designs. The Sowerby factory was taken over by Suntex Safety Glass Industries Limited in 1957, and closed in 1972.
